Happy New Year!

Happy New Year bloggy-friends!

As we enter into a new year, like many other bloggers, I thought I would share with you my home renovation highlights from 2008.

In January, the hallway was painted "Smokey Green" and in September, the stairs were renovated. Here is the before...

Here is the after:

The living room walls and fireplace were also painted in January. Here is the before (not my hubby of course!!! lol):

...and the after...

Later in the winter, the master bedroom was painted "Vichysoise" and I changed the bedding. Here is the before....
...and the after....

In the Spring, Madison's room was yellow (before)...

...and then painted "apple blossom pink". Here is the after...
I also framed pages from the book "Guess How Much I Love You" with sprayed white painted frames and mats leftover from our starter home. Here is the before...
...and the after...

In the summer, we worked on the kitchen. The cabinets were spray lacquered as well as the range hood. Here is the before...

Here is the "now"....we still aren't done because we are going to install crown moulding on top of the cabinets and replace the counters and install a new backsplash..

New "school house" lights for the kitchen...
...and drapes...

Finally, hubby worked on his shed. Here is a photo of the progress. It is done but not painted so I'll save the after 'till the Spring!

All of these projects were so much fun...but it was equally fun to be part of such a fantastic blog community!!

I love all your projects! I had not seen the kitchen photos before, where have I been? So did you spray lacquer them yourself or did you hire someone? Just wondering...they look so great, I am so encouraged that a renovation can make such a difference! :)

I just found your blog via Today's Creative Blog..and WOW..I am glad I did!!! You have done a fabulous job on your home!

I have some questions- you say your spray laquered your cabinets..did someone do that for you or do you rent equiment for that? We NEED to do our cabinets and it will be a job we do ourselves.

Call me nosy--but what is the blue tape for on the side of the lower cabinets? (lol!)

You changed the cabinet area over your stove--that looks fabulous!!!

Hello Grover
We got the cabinets professionally spray lacquered from a cabinet maker (happens to be a family friend). The finish is the same as if you purchased them from a store...no brush marks and ultra durable.

The tape is holding the panelling together...obviously not permanent. :o)

Glad you like the stove hood. We purchased it from E-Bay and also had it spray lacquered.

We didn't do the cabinets...just the doors and the hood. We painted the cabinets with the same paint colour as the cabinet doors...Satin Impervo paint from Benjamin Moore.

So many changes for you! I love them! I have always been a firm believer in buying the worst house in the best neighborhood and then fixing it up yourself! It's amazing how much paint can do to kitchen cupboards! I love the fresh look of your "new" white cupboards! It's so much fun looking through your house fix-ups! Thanks for posting them!

Framing pics from kids books is such a great idea!! I love Shell Silverstein & Dr. Seuss books so much and that is such a perfect idea for that! :)

Love your blog, BTW!
